Als schaatsfan kijken we graag naar de wedstrijden op de Nederlandse Televisie. Waar vroeger 1 of 2 verslaggevers genoeg waren zijn in Vancouver anno 2009 de volgende verslaggevers actief.

(s)Mart Smeets met Ria Visser en als het technisch wordt Erben Wennemars begeleiden de 3 ras reutelaars Franks Snoeks, Herbert Dijkstra en Martin Hersman.

Inderdaad hoe meer zielen hoe meer vreugd, maar of het de kwaliteit van de verslaggeving verbetert?

Dutch people are famous for their love of all kind of skating sports.
The most liked form is speed skating, but don't underestimate figure skating. See for example former champignons Joan Haanappel and Sjoukje Dijkstra.
Now 2 Dutch Television Stations are competing to get attention for figure skating using VIPs (Dutch BNer: Well Known Dutch people).

What's wrong in that? Nothing if you do not make yourself ridiculously. Dutch VIPs have a lot of capabilities, but not for skating. And that is an understatement. They have just learned how they don't fall in the first place.

To get or to stay into the news everything is allowed. To me these attempts are strange, not needed and mainly not to be watched!

Corus Chess Tournament and Skating

Traditional Januari in the Netherlands is predistined to the KNSB. For every dutchman the term KNSB has two meanings:

• Chess (Koninklijke Nederlandse Schaak Bond)
• Skating (Koninklijke Nederlandse Schaats Bond)

Both meanings have their priority members. I like them both. In chess the dutchmen does not have an appealing hero for a long time, but in Olympic years it seems we are also going to lose in skating. To qualify for the Olympic Games Dutch skaters have to use all their forces. At the time they need their skills for international competition they have consumed their powers.
So what seems to be the most accurate comparison between chess and skating?
The Dutch like it, the Dutch peopled it, but don't get the revenues.
It is the same with Darts for England!
