Dutch Television Icedancing
Dutch people are famous for their love of all kind of skating sports.
The most liked form is speed skating, but don't underestimate figure skating. See for example former champignons Joan Haanappel and Sjoukje Dijkstra.
Now 2 Dutch Television Stations are competing to get attention for figure skating using VIPs (Dutch BNer: Well Known Dutch people).
What's wrong in that? Nothing if you do not make yourself ridiculously. Dutch VIPs have a lot of capabilities, but not for skating. And that is an understatement. They have just learned how they don't fall in the first place.
To get or to stay into the news everything is allowed. To me these attempts are strange, not needed and mainly not to be watched!

Richard Hammond
Richard Mark Hammond, born 1969 December 19, is an English television presenter best known for co-presenting Top Gear along with James May and Jeremy Clarkson. Richard is also one of the anchors of Brainiac.
Lately he has suffered a major accident driving a jet-powered Vampire car. The guy is a real celebrity not only in the UK.
He owns a Porsche 911, 2 Land Cruisers, a Suzuki GSXR1000, a BMW 1150 GS, a second Porsche 911, a Porsche 928 , a Morgan V6 Roadster, a 1968 Ford Mustang and several kit cars.
I won't deny anything to anybody. I know there are more extreme motor and car owners. But can someone tell me how to ride all these cars/motor(s) and also DO something for a living? Top Gear? Which gear do you mean? The idiot, the extreme, the rich, the everything-but-not-normal way? Richard Hammond has severe brain damage according the news broadcasts. According the same sources his first reaction was: "Am I a bad driver?". The answer: "Not Bad, but a Stupid Driver".

Corus Chess Tournament and Skating
Traditional Januari in the Netherlands is predistined to the KNSB. For every dutchman the term KNSB has two meanings:
So what seems to be the most accurate comparison between chess and skating?
The Dutch like it, the Dutch peopled it, but don't get the revenues.
It is the same with Darts for England!
Technorati Tag:

Corus
- Chess (Koninklijke Nederlandse Schaak Bond)
- Skating (Koninklijke Nederlandse Schaats Bond)

Tour de France - Rasmussen
The Tour de France 2005 has been decided. The mountainous time stage has been driven. For some people the length of the Tour has been too long. The King of the Mountains (winner of the 'polka dot jersey' collapsed in sight of harbor and could not maintain his 3th place overall finishing on place 77 in the stage!
The disaster started with a fall on one of the first rotundas, the changing of the wrong bicycle, the changing of a wheel, again a new bicycle, a holed wheel and a crash in a ditch. Nothing seems to be saved for Danish Mickael Rasmussen on the last Saturday of the Tour de France 2005, breaking the lean guy completely. This meant a fall to the 7th place overall.
A superior Lance Armstrong demonstrated how to win for the 7th time the Tour the France. This has been the last time to see an historical sequence of wins of the most perfectionistic professional cyclist of the world. I do not think this will ever be reached again!
And Rasmussen? This was his one and only change to reach the 1-2-3 platform overall. Just missing it!
